Without a Home

Homelessness is an issue in pretty much every metropolitan area. But why?

It's a complicated issue with a wide variety of causes.

While it is sometimes perceived as an individual failure it is actually a social illness. Our society is sick and it shows symptoms in specific ways, one of which being that there is a portion of the population experiencing homelessness.

Is it because they don't want to live in a house? Not likely.

However, there are conditions that we all have to navigate to ride the society rollercoaster. If you struggle to meet those conditions or fall down it is easy to end up without a home and once you fall off it can be difficult to get back on the ride.

It seems there are always people fighting the tide, trying to help. There are programs and services in major cities that serve housing and unhoused needs. And yet it seems either not enough or not an effective approach, or both.

What are some approaches that might shape a better future? Cultural changes, infrastructure, government services, non-governmental services, city planning?

Tell us a story about people who struggle and get back up and demonstrate how we could have a better safety net.
