The Role of Narrative

Narrative is how we make sense of the world.

Surrounded by chaos and confusion, our only defense is to tell stories about it, seek patterns, impose order.

The stories that we tell ourselves, the ones that we tell others, the ones that we encounter in books, movies, TV, news and social media - they all shape our perception of reality.

None of it is true but it can be true for you.

We are living in times that are overwhelming, confusing and in many ways quite frightening.

Our only defense is to tell each other stories of how we can escape.

There will be a future and the quality of that future depends on how well we prepare for living there. Let's practice being in a future that works, one where we survive and perhaps even thrive.
