Culture of Technology

Future fiction doesn't have to be all about science and technology.
The changes to culture are arguably much more important to consider. Technology is interesting and all but what we do with it is where the story is.
For example, we have had phones for decades before the smart phone came along. More fascinating than the development of technology is how it has had an effect on our everyday lives.
Smart phones have given us access to the internet on the go but uptake was so fast that as a society we are still learning how to cope with the change. Additionally, those who are being raised with smart phones everywhere have a very different understanding of the world and unique obstacles to overcome.
With this as an accessible example we can start to think about other technologies that are just getting started now and how they might influence our lives when widespread uptake occurs or even when the native generation grows up with the new technology.
What is a technology that is new now and expected to change everything? What will life look like when it has been embraced for five or ten tears? What about the next generation?
Put it in a story.
