Communication Revolution

Our networked age provides unprecedented opportunities to mankind. Among these is the ability for multidirectional mass communication. Not only can a single point broadcast a message to the masses, as in a centralized media organization, but individuals can potentially reach the masses and each other peer to peer.

In a short time this privilege has been taken for granted.

The ability to discuss issues and disseminate information among peers has historically given rise to revolutions but for many reasons the power of communication has become diluted. Not only has it become commonplace but we are overwhelmed with information, much of which is contradictory, and our attention is pulled in many directions everyday.

The environment of our dominant communication platforms is currently clouded by chaos and confusion made worse by rampant mis and dis-information. The platforms are not motivated to do more than the minimum to correct the noise because they profit from our outrage.

Under these conditions mobilization for change is diffused and difficult.

The growth of Web3 community indicates a desire for change and a shift of power away from centralized agents towards peer to peer communication.

Will that help or create more division and confusion?

Would smaller nodes be more beneficial? Can decentralized networks save humanity or create more division and stratification?

Fiction is hypothesis in motion. Let's write about it!
